Originally a sheep farm, M&D Farm’s land is composed of fields, prairies, European style gardens, woods, and ponds reminiscent of the charming English countryside made familiar by the Austen novels. All meant to be explored and discovered by the discerning eye of our visitors and guests. M&D Farm is the perfect setting for an unforgettable outdoor garden and barn wedding, surrounded by romantic European style gardens in the beautiful countryside of Upstate New York. THE GARDENS
Walk room after room of meandering, wistful romance. Each of M&D Farm’s garden areas is filled with a wild explosion of color at every glance. Inspired by the fantasy and beauty of old cottages discovered during our travels through the English countryside, combined with a touch of Mediterranean symmetry and formality, these gardens create an atmosphere that feels effortlessly European. THE BARN
Built in the late 1940s, the barn is a large open space with tall front and back doors allowing light and air to flow through, seamlessly connecting the European style outdoor areas and gardens while enhancing the romantic English countryside atmosphere. M&D Farm’s barn, with its clean lines and curated mix of artwork and antiques, serves as a refined canvas for a romantic and elegant celebration. It is often chosen by couples dreaming of an intimate barn wedding venue in Upstate NY that blends rustic charm with European sophistication. The main barn connects to three additional wings: a light-filled overhang, a laid-back bar reminiscent of a 1920s bohemian speakeasy, and a spacious catering-prepping area.
THE DINNING COURTYARD & FIRE PIT
The barn’s back doors open onto the Dining Courtyard, a gravel area framed by trees and reminiscent of Mediterranean villas. Whether dining al fresco or under a tent, this space evokes the ambiance of a European fête, with long tables set under glowing string lights, perfect for intimate dinners with family and friends. Adjacent to the courtyard is the fire pit lounge, where an oversized sugar kettle bowl, Adirondack chairs, and a Faux Bois garden bench create a cozy gathering spot by the fire. As the evening unfolds and dancing begins inside the barn, guests often return here for relaxed conversation, drinks, and the simple pleasure of being together beneath the stars.
THE POND GARDENS
Nestled on the property’s lower level, M&D Farm’s pond gardens offer a serene open space surrounded by nature, lawns, and pastoral fields. Couples can exchange vows with the pond’s reflection as their backdrop, creating a scene that feels straight out of the European countryside. The area features a relaxed outdoor bar, ample seating, and lawn games, ideal for guests to enjoy during pre-ceremony or cocktail hour. As night falls, string lights illuminate the pond bar, creating a warm and inviting glow that transforms the space into a magical outdoor setting.
